About the church:

The Covenanter Church at Grand Pre celebrated it's 200 anniversary in 2004. Built in 1804 in the
style of a New England Meeting House. The tower was added in 1818. The church was built during the
ministry of Reverend George Gilmore, a Presbyterian who ministered in Ireland before coming to Grand Pre. The church was given the name 'The Covenanter' during the tenure of the Reverend Sommerville who insisted that the congregation follow the Covenanter system of worship. This lead to a number of parishoners leaving to form another Presbyterian congregation. The church on the hill became known as The Covenanter to differentiate the two.
